🤖 OpenAI Hosts DevDay, Unveiling Major AI Upgrades and Capabilities

At its inaugural DevDay event, OpenAI unveiled numerous AI advancements including a faster GPT-4 Turbo model, tools for users to easily build customized GPT chatbots, an online store where you can share these bots, and a Copyright Shield program to protect customers against copyright strikes.

Additional announcements include upgraded text-to-speech capabilities, a DALL-E 3 API for text-to-image generation, and reduced GPT-4 pricing.

OpenAI also revealed that ChatGPT now has 100 million weekly users, demonstrating rapid adoption.

The announcements aim to make AI more accessible, integrated and customizable across applications.

💰 Microsoft Partners with VCs to Provide AI Startups Free Supercomputer Access

Amid an AI chip shortage, Microsoft is letting select startups use its Azure cloud's high-powered GPUs for free to develop AI models.

Microsoft is updating its startup program to include no-cost access to Nvidia-based virtual machine clusters for training large language models.

Y Combinator startups get initial private preview access. Microsoft aims to lower barriers to AI innovation and familiarize startups with Azure over rival clouds.

While not indefinite, the time-bound free access helps early-stage startups trial operations before paying.

💬 YouTube Testing AI Features for Premium Subscribers

YouTube announced two experimental AI capabilities for Premium members - AI-generated comment summaries and a video chatbot.

The summarizer organizes comments into topics, letting creators delete problematic sections. The conversational assistant answers questions about video content using web info, without interrupting playback.

Eligible subscribers can opt-in to test the features. While not yet widely available, YouTube is trialing the AI tools to provide more interactive experiences.

However, the company cautions the experiments may sometimes fall short, like Google's other AI attempts.
