Dropbox launches $50M AI-focused venture fund 💰

Dropbox launches Dropbox Ventures, a $50 million venture fund aimed at supporting AI startups.

The fund will provide financial support as well as mentorship to startups developing AI-powered products that shape the "future of work".

The move comes as venture capital firms increasingly invest in AI, with AI startups receiving over $52 billion in funding across more than 3,300 deals in the last year alone.

Dropbox also announced new AI-powered features for its cloud storage product, including Dropbox Dash, a universal search bar that can search across various tools and apps, and Dropbox AI, which can summarize and extract information from files stored in a Dropbox account.

These additions demonstrate Dropbox's commitment to incorporating AI and machine learning to improve its customers' experiences.

Vimeo’s new AI script generator will write corporate marketing filler in seconds 📸

Vimeo is integrating new AI tools with some powered by OpenAI's technology.

These tools aim to help users create fully produced videos quickly and target corporate customers for various purposes such as highlight reels, virtual events, and marketing videos.

The three main features include a script generator, a teleprompter for timing and font adjustments, and a text-based video editor that identifies and removes filler words and awkward moments.

While these tools seem useful, the script generator's accuracy and editing requirements remain “questionable”.

Vimeo aims to position itself as an all-in-one resource for video production, targeting corporate customers.

The company's Chief Product Officer said that the script generator is powered by OpenAI while not specifying the model used.
