OpenAI and Anthropic have agreed to share AI models with the US AI Safety Institute, a federal agency established in 2023.

The institute will provide safety feedback to improve these models. Google is also in discussions with the agency. This collaboration aims to advance AI safety science and mitigate potential risks.

Meanwhile, California's state assembly approved an AI safety bill requiring testing and kill switches for large AI models. The bill awaits final approval and the governor's signature by September 30.

๐Ÿ” Google is working on AI that can hear signs of sickness

Google is leveraging AI to detect early signs of disease using sound signals.

The company trained an AI model with 300 million audio samples of respiratory sounds to identify conditions like tuberculosis.

Google has partnered with Indian startup Salcit Technologies to integrate this technology into smartphones, potentially aiding high-risk populations with limited healthcare access.

This initiative aligns with Google's broader efforts to digitize human senses for medical purposes, including backing startups using AI to detect diseases through smell.
