Musk's xAI Unveils Grok-2 with Image Generation on X

Elon Musk's xAI has launched Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini in beta on X, with improved reasoning and image generation capabilities.

Access is limited to Premium and Premium+ users. The new models offer advancements in chat, coding, and reasoning.

Grok's image generation currently lacks guardrails for political figures, raising concerns about potential misuse for misinformation.

xAI plans to make both models available to developers through an enterprise API later this month.

The company also intends to integrate Grok-2 into various AI-driven features on X, including improved search, post analytics, and reply functions. A preview of multimodal understanding is expected to be released soon.

🕵️ OpenAI shuts down election influence operation that used ChatGPT

OpenAI has banned ChatGPT accounts linked to an Iranian influence operation targeting the U.S. presidential election.

The operation, identified as Storm-2035 by Microsoft, created AI-generated articles and social media posts to spread misinformation and polarize voters.

OpenAI discovered five website fronts posing as news outlets and multiple social media accounts used by the group. While the campaign's reach appears limited, it highlights the emerging trend of state actors using generative AI to manipulate public opinion.

This incident echoes previous election interference attempts on social media platforms and demonstrates the ongoing challenge of combating AI-powered misinformation campaigns as the U.S. election approaches.
