Apple just killed Meta and Oculus with Disney partnership

At Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2023) yesterday, the spotlight was squarely on the company's new mixed-reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro.

Tim Cook, Apple CEO, seems really excited about it, and it's clear they've spent a lot of time and effort (nearly a decade!) making it.

“With Vision Pro, you’re no longer limited by a display”

He is damn right, but does anybody really want to put something like this on their face? Time will tell.

Tim was joined by Disney CEO Bob Iger that announced Disney+ will be available on Apple's new device, the Vision Pro, at launch.

The headset, which will retail for $3,499 and become available in early 2024 offers a unique movie theater experience when watching TV shows and movies.

Iger highlighted that the integration will allow Disney to offer fans "deeply personal experiences" in innovative ways.

The partnership between Apple and Disney is quite significant, as it provides content that Meta hasn't yet secured for its Quest VR headsets.

Nvidia briefly worth $1 trillion
thanks to AI boom

Chip maker Nvidia joined the exclusive group of US companies valued over $1 trillion, albeit briefly, before the share price retreated.

This surge occurred on the back of a forecasted rise in demand due to AI advances, which had already prompted a 25% jump in shares the previous week.

Other members of the "trillion-dollar club" include Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft.

Nvidia, founded in 1993, initially made chips for processing graphics, particularly for computer games. A strategic decision by co-founder Jensen Huang to invest in added functionality for Nvidia chips ahead of the AI revolution has proved beneficial.

The company's hardware is foundational to most AI applications today, holding approximately 95% of the market for machine learning.

Despite Nvidia's success, the company faces challenges, including keeping up with demand and competition from rivals like AMD and Intel.
